Privacy Policy

1. The short version

• No accounts, no game uploads. Analysis runs 100% on your device.
• Usernames you enter are used only to call public Chess.com / Lichess APIs directly from your browser.
• No advertising trackers and no sale of personal data — ever.
• Local storage only: theme preference and board settings stay in your browser.

2. Data we do not collect

We do not operate user accounts and do not store on any server:

• Your chess games, PGNs, or FEN positions you analyze
• Your Chess.com or Lichess passwords or private data
• Engine evaluations or accuracy reports tied to your identity

When you import games by username, your browser queries the official public APIs (api.chess.com, lichess.org) directly. We never see or proxy those requests.

3. Data we may process

• Contact messages: if you use our contact page, we receive your name, email address, and message solely to reply. We delete these on request.
• Basic server logs: our hosting provider may log anonymized technical data (IP address, user agent, pages visited) for security and reliability. Logs are retained briefly and never joined with analysis activity.
• Local browser storage: theme (localStorage: theme) and UI preferences. Clear your browser storage anytime to remove them.

4. Cookies

We do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We use only:

• Strictly-necessary, privacy-respecting hosting/CDN behavior (e.g. TLS, caching).
• Browser localStorage for your theme choice — not a cookie and never sent to us.

If we ever add privacy-friendly analytics (e.g. self-hosted, cookieless), we will disclose it here first.

5. Third-party services

• Chess.com & Lichess public APIs — governed by their own privacy policies when you import public games.
• Fonts (Google Fonts) — loaded to render text; refer to Google's privacy policy.
• Hosting / CDN — serves static pages over HTTPS.

We do not embed social-media trackers, ad networks, or fingerprinting SDKs.

6. Children

Chess Analysis AI is a general-audience training tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Parents or guardians may contact us to request deletion of any message a child has sent.

7. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (including GDPR in the EEA/UK), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal data you have shared with us (essentially: contact messages). Email any request and we will respond within 30 days. Because analysis happens on-device, there is otherwise nothing to export or erase on our servers.

8. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above and note material changes here. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the revised policy.
